2 quakes hit the Visayas
MANILA, Philippines - Two mild earthquakes rocked parts of the Visayas yesterday but there were no reports of any damage or injuries, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said.
Phivolcs director Renato Solidum said the quakes with magnitudes of 4.2 and 2.6 occurred at around 1:59 a.m. and 4:54 a.m., respectively.
Solidum said the epicenter of the magnitude 2.6 quake was traced at 37 kilometers southwest of Roxas City.
It was felt at Intensity 4 in Dumarao, Capiz; Intensity 3 in Bingawan, Iloilo; and Intensity 2 in Roxas City and in the towns of Cuartero, Dumalag, Mambusao, Sigma, Sapian and Ivisan in Capiz.
Meanwhile, the magnitude 4.2 quake was centered at 28 kms northeast of Dolores, Eastern Samar, Solidum said.
Phivolcs did not report any intensity due to the earthquake.
