Compostela tornado kills 2 villagers
COMPOSTELA VALLEY Philippines – At least two people were killed while three others were reported missing when a tornado struck a village in Nabunturan town this province last Thursday night.
Police identified the fatalities as Pablo Tibay, 59; and Cristine Berunguis, four, residents of Sitio Matagdungan, Barangay Bukal. Their bodies were recovered in the Manat River the following morning.
Those missing were identified as Mae Berunguis, seven; Rachel Berunguis, six; and Angel Berunguis, nine months old.
The children’s parents, Rico and Maricel Berunguis, sustained injuries in the tornado that struck at around 8:30 p.m. Thursday.
A bridge in Maco town and another one in Barangay Tandic also collapsed after a tornado hit the area.
