Aurora police director axed

- Manny Galvez -

CAMP RAVINA, BALER, Aurora Philippines  – The police director of this province has been relieved from his post amid a rash of crimes and alleged lapses in law enforcement.

Chief Superintendent Alan Purisima, regional police director, told The STAR by phone yesterday that he has relieved Senior Superintendent Rosvi Manulid and replaced him with Senior Superintendent Jojo Gumban as officer-in-charge. The turnover ceremony is set on Monday.

Purisima said Gov. Bellaflor Angara-Castillo chose Gumban among three names that the National Police Commission had recommended.

Angara-Castillo earlier had expressed dismay over the recent rash of crimes in the province and the failure of the police to stop illegal logging
