Intensity 4 quake jolts Camarines

- Cet Dematera -

LEGAZPI CITY ,Philippines  – A week after an earthquake shook Masbate, another 4.7-magnitude temblor jolted Camarines Sur at around 9:29 p.m. last Sunday, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said yesterday.

Phivolcs resident geologist Ed Laguerta said the earthquake’s epicenter was traced at 29 kilometers north, 28 degrees east of Pili town in Camarines Sur.

With a depth of 20 kilometers, the temblor was felt at Intensity 4 in nearby Naga City.

Laguerta said the quake was attributed to a movement in the fault under the Caramoan Peninsula, also in Camarines Sur.

Last March 17, a 3.7-magnitude quake hit Masbate, with its epicenter traced at 11 kilometers northwest of Masbate. It was felt at Intensity 3 in Masbate City.
