DAVAO CITY ,Philippines – Philippine National Police chief Director General Raul Bacalzo personally paid his respects to a slain policeman and honored 12 others who repulsed New People’s Army rebels who raided their station in Panabo City, Davao del Norte last Saturday night.
Bacalzo arrived here yesterday to visit the wake of PO3 Narciso Pakiwag in Panabo City and to award medals of valor to the 12 other policemen who defended the city police station from the NPA attack.
Bacalzo personally handed to Pakiwag’s family the PNP recognition for the gallantry the slain police officer showed in performing his duty.
He also handed Pakiwag’s posthumous promotion from PO3 to SPO1 and the check representing his benefits from the PNP.
After visiting the wake, Bacalzo proceeded to the Panabo City police headquarters where he awarded medals to Pakiwag’s colleagues who prevented the insurgents from overrunning their police station.
Receiving the PNP Merit Medal were SPO4 Zimbri Rafailes, SPO4 Rodrigo Tidalgo Jr., PO3 Halic Osama, PO2 Maria Fe Apawan, PO2 Mark Lopez, PO1 Gilbert Gili, PO1 Mary Grace Bual, PO1 Chrisfel Omaliao, PO1 Arcosur Vallescas, PO1 Eric Padada, and PO1 Janry Cinco. Senior Inspector Jay Demaala and PO1 Vallescas received the Wounded Personnel Medal.
