MANILA, Philippines -  The Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR), along with the Regional Development Council, has declared the city the first runner-up in the recently concluded “2010 Search for the Cleanest, Greenest and Safest City (SCGSC).”

Alaminos City grabbed the second place for its sound coastal resources management program; sustained cleanliness and environmental awareness drive, including reforestation program, and good governance under Mayor Hernani Braganza’s 10-point development agenda since 2004.

Pangasinan’s Urdaneta City topped the search. Ilocos Sur’s Candon City was took the third place.
