Camp Nakar, Lucena City ,Philippines – The Southern Luzon Command together with the local government of Lucena, PNP Tayabas, Pagbilao and bikers from the towns of Quezon and Batangas joined yesterday morning the Mountain Bike Fun Ride 2011 dubbed as “Ride High with Mountain Bike not with Drugs” in this city.
Col. Generoso Bolina, spokesperson of Solcom, said more than 500 bikers participated in the activity which was organized by the Rotary Club of Metro Lucena.
“The fun ride aims to promote healthy lifestyle to the participants and to encourage everyone to take active role against drugs,” Bolina said.
Nilo Villapando, president of the Rotary Club of Lucena led the bikers as they traversed the streets of Pagbilao and Tayabas and then back to Perez Park where it started.
Cash prizes, t-shirts, certificates and other freebies were given to the participants while prizes were raffled during the short program.
Lt. Gen Roland Detabali thanked the organizers for the opportunity given to Solcom in the campaign against illegal drugs. He furthered added that the fun ride is a means to gather all the bikers and supporters for a more meaningful objective of coming together to create awareness against illegal drugs.
