Credit card fraud suspect falls

-

MANILA, Philippines -  The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) has arrested a man for allegedly using fraudulent credit cards to purchase flight tickets and hotel packages from the Cebu Pacific website.

The suspect, a certain Richard Joseph Lagasca, was nabbed by the NBI last Monday following an entrapment operation. He was subsequently brought for inquest before the Cavite provincial prosecutor’s office.

Lagasca was charged with violation of Republic Act 8484, or the Access Device Regulation Act, and estafa under Article 315 of the Revised Penal Code.

“Cebu Pacific has been actively campaigning against credit card fraud and has instituted measures to detect fraudulent transactions in the interest of protecting legitimate cardholders who book through our website,” Cebu Pacific vice president for marketing and distribution Candice Iyog said.

“We hope passengers continue to transact directly with Cebu Pacific or with legitimate CEB ticketing offices for their security,” she added.
