BINMALEY, Pangasinan , Philippines – A former vice mayor of Lingayen town and his wife, who is a barangay chairwoman, were wounded in an ambush Friday night along the national highway here.
Wounded were former vice mayor Ramon Arcinue and his wife, Zorahayda Arcinue, chairwoman of Barangay Poblacion, Lingayen.
The Arcinues were on their way home in Lingayen from Dagupan City when two ski mask-wearing men riding tandem on a motorcycle overtook their Honda City and fired at them.
Investigator PO1 Jonathan Manuel said an employee of a soft drinks company who was passing by rushed the couple to a hospital in Dagupan City.
Police found three empty shells and three slugs of caliber .45 at the crime scene.
Police said the Arcinues were still at the intensive care unit as of press time.
A P500,000 reward has been put up for information leading to the arrest of the ambushers.
