- Roel Pareño -

ZAMBOANGA CITY, MANILA, Philippines – Marine intelligence agents have captured an Abu Sayyaf member tagged in bombings and the 2008 kidnapping of broadcaster Ces Drilon and three others.

Lt. Col. Randolf Cabangbang, spokesman of the Armed Forces’ Western Mindanao Command, said Said Sali, 20, who belongs to the urban terrorist group of the Abu Sayyaf under sub-leader Jamiri Jawhari, was intercepted at the Jolo, Sulu pier yesterday morning.

Brig. Gen. Romeo Tanalgo, Sulu Island Command chief, said Sali tried to escape by jumping off the wharf but was found two hours later.

Tanalgo said Sali admitted during the initial interrogation that he took part in the kidnapping of Drilon, her two cameramen and peace advocate Octavio Dinampo in June 2008.
