5 Western Visayas cops dismissed from service

- Non Alquitran -

MANILA, Philippines -  Five policemen from Western Visayas have been dismissed from the police service for various infractions.

Chief Superintendent Cipriano Querol Jr., Western Visayas police director, said another policeman was demoted, 15 others were suspended, five were reprimanded, and the salaries of eight more were forfeited.

Meanwhile, cases against 35 law enforcers in the region were dismissed.

Those dismissed from the police service were PO2 Ernie Arorong of the Iloilo City police, for grave misconduct; PO1 Neuton Guinson of the Negros police, serious neglect of duty; PO2 Mendoza Belandres and PO1 Kenjie Beloya of the Bacolod City police, serious neglect of duty; and PO3 Marcon Brillantes of the Iloilo police, grave misconduct.

Querol said the fast resolution of the cases of the 69 policemen was in compliance with the directive of Philippine National Police chief Director General Raul Bacalzo and Interior and Local Government Secretary Jesse Robredo for a “zero-case backlog.”

Bacalzo and Robredo ordered the immediate resolution of cases against police personnel to remove undesirables in the police force and relieve the agony of those innocent of the charges.
