Rotary District 3820 brings 'green light' to Laguna folk

-

MANILA, Philippines -  Rotary District 3820 led by District Governor Tato Dimayuga has tied up with My Shelter Foundation, headed by executive director Illac Diaz, to work on light-a-house project using green technology that would benefit the poorer communities of San Pedro, Laguna.

The technology, which came from Brazil, utilizes 1.5 liters of plastic bottles with water and mixed with chlorox.

This simple green technology, discovered by a Brazilian engineer, creates artificial light that can emit as much as 50 watts of energy enough to light a moderate-size house.

Rotary District 3820 has begun a series of trials in San Pedro, Laguna, benefiting residences along the railroad tracks in Sitio Maligaya 1, Barangay San Vicente.

The first installation in 100 houses proved to be successful that more households in the neighborhood are requesting for more installations.

Rotary District 3820 officers and presidents, together with San Pedro Vice Mayor Norvic Solidum and barangay chairman Allan Villena, both past presidents of the Rotary, have promised to even widen the coverage of the energy-saving and environment-friendly technology in San Pedro very soon.

Rotary District 3820 and My Shelter Foundation are committed to pursue this project to help poorer folk gain access to this new invention to make their lives a little more comfortable.

The project is also part of Rotary’s 106th anniversary celebration today.
