Armed men shoot Bangued town hall guard
Bangued, Abra , Philippines – Armed men riding-in-tandem on a motorcycle fired at a guard of the Bangued town hall Saturday night, a day after a 24-year-old was found dead from gunshot wounds in the chest by policemen in La Paz town.
Bangued town hall guard Jericho Patonio Enrile, 36, escaped death when the assassins drove by while he was standing along the street near the town hall fired at him.
The guard suffered a gun shot wound at the back portion of his waist and was rushed to the Seares Hospital for medical treatment while the suspects fled away.
Policemen failed to catch the assassins.
On Friday, policemen found 24-year-old Jay Solis dead of gunshot wounds on his chest and abdomen along the highway in Barangay Benben, La Paz town, also in Abra.
Prior to that, La Paz town policemen got a cellphone call from a villager that a male person figured in a vehicular accident.
It turned out that the supposed victim was a victim of murder.
The shooting incidents are the latest among the series of “everyday murders” and shooting sprees in the province, touted as “Cordillera’s Killing Fields.”
