Seized Pagadian boy freed after 2 months

- J. A. Rimando -

PAGADIAN CITY, Philippines – Kidnappers have released an 11-year-old boy who they seized along with his 65-year-old grandmother here two months ago.

The old woman was found dead in Karomatan, Lanao del Norte, her body buried in a shallow grave, two weeks after the kidnapping when her family reportedly failed to pay ransom.

Police could not say if the boy’s grandfather, a civil engineer, paid ransom for his release in a village at the boundary of Lanao del Norte and Tukuran, Zamboanga del Norte.

The kidnappers reportedly gave the boy P1,000 for his transport fare to Cotabato City and then to this city.
