PCG helps stranded ship

MANILA, Philippines - The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) yesterday embarked on a rescue mission to assist 20 passengers of a roll-on, roll-off (roro) vessel that developed engine trouble and whose anchor got entangled near Loco Point in Batangas.
As of press time, PCG spokesman Lt. Cmdr. Arman Balilo said 12 passengers of M/V Lolo Uwing had been rescued and brought to Calapan, Oriental Mindoro.
On board the vessel were 13 crewmembers, five contractors, a guide, and security personnel.
