'Resolve Bataan housing raps'

-

MANILA, Philippines - Residents of a Bataan housing project which had been left unfinished during the term of former governor Ding Roman have appealed to the Office of the Ombudsman for the immediate resolution of the cases they have filed.

Led by homeowners’ association president James Pagaduan, residents of the Peninsula housing project in Barangay Sapa in Samal town lamented in a statement that the cases have been pending with the Ombudsman for five years already with no resolution still in sight.

The Peninsula project was started during Roman’s term and was originally intended for some 200 low-cost housing units. But Pagaduan said only about 50 units were finished until the end of the Roman administration.

Peninsula residents earlier had appealed to COA for guidance after the agency uncovered questionable practices in the implementation of the project.

Records show that the Roman administration obtained a P143-million loan from Pag-IBIG Fund for the Peninsula project.
