1 dead, 2 hurt in grenade blast

UMINGAN, Pangasinan, Philippines – A farmer was killed while two others were injured when the grenade of the former accidentally exploded inside a videoke bar the other night in Barangay Maseil-seil here, a report reaching the Pangasinan PNP provincial office said yesterday.

The report identified the fatality as Apolicarpio Domingo, 50, of Barangay Alo-o at said town while the injured were Edward Licanio Jr., 20, also of Barangay Alo-o; and Cecile Madrigal, 26, a guest relations officer (GRO).

Initial investigation said that Domingo and Licanio went to the Juliet Videoke Bar where they had a drinking session.

After a couple of minutes, Domingo who was wearing a jacket inserted his hand on the pocket who allegedly was in possession of the grenade but accidentally detached the pin and exploded.

Domingo died on the spot due to shrapnel wounds while Lica­nio and Madrigal were injured.

Both injured were rushed to the Medicare Community Hospital but Madrigal was transferred to the Region I Medical Center (R1MC) in Dagupan and Licanio to the Eastern Pangasinan District Hospital in Tayug town for further treatment.
