Region 1 police vies for Camp Crame award

- Jun Elias -

CAMP FLORENDO, La Union, Philippines  – The Police Regional Office 1 (PRO1) here was recommended yesterday by the inspection team from Camp Crame as contender for the best police regional office award this year.

PRO1 already won five times as best police regional office.

Police Director Ifor Magbanua, acting inspector general of the PNP’s Internal Affairs Service (IAS), said PRO1’s excellent track record, vastly improved camp facilities, and first-rate job performance of its personnel during their inspection here stands a good chance of once again bagging the much-coveted title nationwide.

Magbanua, head of the Annual General Inspection – Operational Readiness Inspection Test and Evaluation (AGI-ORSITE), was impressed by the performance of PRO1 presented during the briefing yesterday.

The AGI-ORSITE is a PNP-wide activity conducted annually in all police offices and units to assess their operational readiness, appraise their adherence to PNP policies and prescribed rules and regulations, and evaluate their overall capability and effectiveness.

It is spearheaded by the PNP’s IAS.

Chief Superintendent Orlando Mabutas, Ilocos police director, said PRO1 was first awarded in 1997 the leadership of former regional director and now Pangasinan Gov. Amado Espino Jr.; in 2000 during the time of General Jose Ayap; back-to-back wins in 2006 and 2007 during the stint of then chief superintendent Leopoldo Bataoil, now representative of the second district of Pangasinan; and in 2008 under chief superintendent Luizo Ticman.
