DOH: Beware of ashfall

-

MANILA, Philippines - The Department of Health (DOH) yesterday urged those living near the restive Mt. Bulusan in Sorsogon to stay away from the volcano if they have respiratory ailments.

“It’s actually not the ashfall that is dangerous but the smell; it’s sulfur,” said Dr. Ed Janairo, director of the DOH’s National Center for Disease Prevention and Control.

A total of 41 volcanic earthquakes were recorded at Bulusan in the past 24 hours. Alert level 1 is still maintained around the volcano. – Sheila Crisostomo, Helen Flores and Celso Amo
