Soldier runs amok, kills pal

ZAMBOANGA CITY, Philippines – An Army enlisted personnel went berserk, shot and killed a fellow soldier and then wounded an officer who tried to pacify him at a military division base in Labangan, Zamboanga del Sur, the military said.

Maj. Gen. Romeo Lustestica, general officer-in-charge of the Armed Forces’ Western Mindanao Command and commander of the Army’s 1st Infantry Division, identified the slain soldier as M/Sgt. David Oidi and the wounded officer as Col. Ramon Florence.

Lustestica said the attacker, S/Sgt. Leonilo Jeminez, was subsequently killed by responding soldiers.
