Abus tagged in kidnap of 2 teachers

ZAMBOANGA CITY, Philippines – Police have tagged the Abu Sayyaf in Monday’s kidnapping of two public school teachers in a remote village in Lamitan, Basilan.

The local crisis management committee initiated negotiations that led to the safe release of Marlyn Yacapin, principal of the Baas Elementary School, almost an hour after she and teacher Cecilia Sosas were seized the other day. 

“We already know the identities of those involved in the kidnapping,” said acting Lamitan Mayor Arleigh Eisma.

Eisma said the kidnappers have not relayed any demands yet in exchange for Sosas’ release.
