1 dead, 7 injured in highway mishap

BACNOTAN, La Union, Philippines – A 43-year-old woman was killed and seven others were seriously injured when the private utility jeepney they were riding was bumped by a speeding Partas passenger bus before dawn yesterday along the national highway in Barangay Bacqui here.

Senior Inspector Ismael Gauna, Bacnotan police chief, identified the fatality as Flory Maulit, and those hurt as Glenda de Velles, 47; Lawrence Dulatre, 29; Rose Beltran, 26; Joy Ynacay, 12; Remegio Estoesta, 37; Rose Antonio, 43; and jeepney driver Andres Maulit Jr.
