- Ed Amoroso -

CAMP VICENTE LIM, Laguna, Philippines – Police are hunting down residents who stole the money and belongings of the victims in last Sunday’s bus mishap in Pagbilao, Quezon that left five passengers dead and 52 others injured.

Chief Superintendent Nicanor Bartolome, Calabarzon police director, said he has instructed the Pagbilao police to look into the victims’ complaints that they lost cash and personal belongings to looters.

Bartolome said several victims have sought police assistance to locate their missing belongings and packages.

He said police are now tracking down these looters who took advantage of the situation instead of helping in the rescue and retrieval operation.

The five fatalities in the bus accident were identified as Milagros Lerios Eguia, 63; Jesusa Venus, 35; Teresita Torillas, 50; Dea Aplan; and Arnel Daang, 23.

He said charges of reckless imprudence resulting in multiple homicide and multiple injuries have been filed against CUL bus driver Oscar Yadawon Pedrigosa with the Pagbilao prosecutor’s office.
