ZAMBOANGA CITY, Philippines – Thousands of residents were affected as incessant rains brought flash floods to at least four low-lying villages in this southern port city yesterday.
No one was reported hurt though, as elements of the Navy’s Special Warfare Group, the police Special Action Force, and the Philippine Air Force conducted rescue missions.
Mayor Celso Lobregat directed officials of the affected villages – Sinunuc, Lower Calarian, Putik and Tugbungan – to coordinate with the city’s disaster team.
