Work on collapsed Tarlac bridge rushed

-

MANILA, Philippines - Public Works and Highways Secretary Rogelio Singson has ordered the department’s President’s Bridge Program Office (PBPO) to conduct immediate repair and restoration works on the collapsed Cubcub-San Bartolome Bridge, a 40-year-old structure along a barangay road in Mayantoc, Tarlac.

With a directive from President Aquino to immediately respond to emergencies, Singson instructed Assistant Secretary and concurrent PBPO executive director Emil Sadain to dispatch a team of engineers to come up, together with DPWH-Region 3 engineers, with recommendations on the repair scheme for the steel bridge that collapsed last July 4 as two overloaded hauling trucks passed through it.

DPWH Undersecretary for Luzon Operations Romeo Momo and Sadain have jointly inspected the bridge.
