BIÑAN, Laguna , Philippines – City Mayor Marlyn Alonte-Naguiat vowed to continue her eight priority programs and projects in her second term when she took her oath of office at the San Labrador Parish in Barangay Poblacion, here, yesterday morning.
Alonte-Naguiat said the export processing zone and prime industrial estate remain on top of her agenda to push Biñan City and be at par with other Laguna communities.
The other projects in her agenda includes an expanded healthcare program, jobs creation, educational opportunities to the youth and upkeep of the environment. She also cited the peace and order situation in Biñan which was recently recognized as one of the best in Region 4A.
Alonte-Naguiat vowed to enhance Biñan folk to protect and respect the rights of individuals and other marginalized groups.
In her inaugural message, she said she would bring a new kind of leadership to Biñanenses, the business sectors and civic groups, including religious sectors. “ I want to foreground my governance on the tenets of equality not just in terms of economics but also in matters of adequate protection of all under the law,” she said.
Court of Appeals Associate Justice Josefina Guevara Salonga administered the oath taking of Alonte-Naguiat, which was attended by her family and relatives, supporters, and employees of the Biñan City Hall, including Vice Mayor Arman Dimaguila and elected city councilors.
Among those who attended her oath taking were Vice President Jejomar Binay, Laguna Rep. Dan Fernandez, Sta. Rosa Mayor Arlene Arcillas-Nazareno and Eldon Cruz, brother-in-law of President Aquino.
