Bacolod's New Government Center inaugurated today
MANILA, Philippines - Bacolod City’s newest landmark, the New Government Center (NGC), will be formally inaugurated today, an hour prior to the inaugural ceremony of the city’s elected officials.
Gretchen Cojuangco, Sen. Franklin Drilon, people’s champ and Sarangani Rep. Manny Pacquiao, former League of Cities president Jesse Robredo, and a member of the Fernando and Angela Gonzaga family who donated the lot where the edifice stands, together with Bacolod City Mayor Evelio Leonardia and his wife Elsa will cut the ribbon to officially inaugurate the center at 4:30 p.m.
Leonardia and the guests will then unveil the NGC marker located at the left side of the center’s lobby.
Leonardia said the edifice, costing P395 million, is a monument to the greatness of the Bacoleños and the unity and determination to realize the long-time dream of the past city administrations.
The birth of the NGC spurred economic growth along the Circumferential Road as various establishments started to sprout in the surrounding areas.
Banks, restaurants, call centers, private offices, hotels and new jeepney routes, along with an exciting nightlife, are now visible.
