Teacher shot dead

-

CAMP VICENTE LIM, Laguna – A 59-year-old high school teacher was shot dead by her husband inside their house in Barangay Malalim, Batangas City, police said yesterday.

Senior Superintendent Alfred Supapo, Batangas provincial director, identified the victim as Quintana Mendoza, a school teacher of Batangas National High School, who died of multiple gunshot wounds in different parts of the body.

Mendoza’s husband, Florentino, 62, was arrested by responding policemen at Sitio Ibaba after he committed the crime at around 11:30 p.m. Saturday. Charges of parricide have been filed before the Batangas prosecutor’s office against the suspect.

Probers said the Mendoza couple had a heated argument inside their house when suddenly the victim’s husband got irked and drew his gun. He shot the victim at close range. Witnesses told authorities that the victim tried to run, but the suspect chased her and shot her again several times. – Ed Amoroso
