Agusan vice mayor-elect shot
BUTUAN CITY , Philippines — A newly proclaimed vice mayor in Agusan del Sur, Talacogon was shot by still unidentified suspects who were riding in tandem aboard a single motorcycle in Barangay Labnig, Talacogon, Agusan del Sur Thursday afternoon.
Caraga Police Regional Information Office identified the victim as retired PNP member, now Talacogon town vice mayor-elect, Rodolfo Blando Bosque, 57, married and resident of said town.
Police said the victim was riding his single motorcycle from Barangay Kauswagan when two unidentified motorcycle-riding suspects overtook him and the back rider using a .9mm caliber shot the victim hitting his body.
The suspects immediately fled to unknown direction after the incident. The victim was rushed to Talacogon Rural Health Unit for immediate medical assistance and subsequently brought to Butuan Doctors Hospital for further medical treatment.
Reportedly, the victim was then transferred to Davao Doctor’s Hospital for surgical operation.
Recovered from the crime scene was one empty shell of a 9mm caliber.
Police said they are still investigating the incident. But reliable sources claimed the shooting may have something to do with alleged rampant illegal logging activities in the area which already caused conflict among those involved in said illegal activities.
The Bosque shooting is the first post-election violence incident in the region.
