MANILA, Philippines - Evangelist-turned-presidential aspirant Eduardo “Bro. Eddie” Villanueva of the Bangon Pilipinas Party (BPP) recently signed a covenant with Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) spokesman Eid Kabalu and expressed his support for a federal form of government to finally have peace in Mindanao.
The other BPP national candidates led by vice presidential bet Perfecto Yasay Jr. supported the covenant.
Under the covenant, the BPP said it is committed to call for a constitutional convention (con-con) to submit, propose and support the adoption of a federal form of government “as a final and permanent solution to the pursuit of peace and progress in Mindanao.”
This, however, is subject to the “collective will of the Filipino people in a plebiscite,” it said.
