'Agaton' moves away from RP

-

MANILA, Philippines - Tropical storm Agaton (international name: Omais) has weakened into a tropical depression as it continued to move away from the country, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said yesterday.

Pagasa said the weather disturbance is still far to affect any part of the country.

As of 4 p.m. yesterday, the eye of Agaton was spotted some 1,010 kilometers east of Aparri, Cagayan with maximum sustained winds of 65 kilometers per hour near the center and gustiness of up to 80 kph.

Agaton, the first weather disturbance to enter the country this year, was forecast to move northeast at 11 kph.        – Helen Flores
