6 Malaysian fishers freed

ZAMBOANGA CITY, Philippines – Suspected Abu Sayyaf members have freed six Malaysian fishermen they abducted at the boundary of Sabah, Malaysia and held for more than two days in Tawi-Tawi, Rear Admiral Alexander Pama, chief of the Naval Forces Western Mindanao, said yesterday.
Malaysian authorities earlier reported that the kidnappers had demanded 150,000 Malaysian ringgits as ransom but later reduced this to 60,000 Malaysian ringgits. – Roel Pareño
