CAMP OLIVAS, Pampanga , Philippines  – The vice gubernatorial candidate in the province of Zambales was gunned down by two unidentified armed men in Barangay Mabanglit, Cabangan, Zambales, Sunday.

In his report here yesterday to Chief Superintendent Arturo Cacdac, newly-installed Central Luzon police director, Senior Superintendent Rafael Santiago, officer-in-charge of Zambales police, identified the fatality as Willie Viloria, 44, a resident of said barangay and running for vice governor as independent.

At about 10:30 a.m. Sunday, the victim was having his coffee break in his residence when the assailants arrived and without warning shot him successively, the report said.

Santiago said the victim died on the spot due to multiple gunshot wounds sustained on his head and different parts of the body.

After killing Viloria, the suspects proceeded inside the victim’s house allegedly looking for a bag, he said.

The report said the two suspects took the campaign fund of the victim amounting to P500,000.

According to intelligence report, Santiago said the victim was recently receiving death threats before he decided to run for vice gubernatorial race.

Police recovered several spent shells for .45 caliber pistol and .38 caliber revolver from the scene of the crime.

Cacdac has ordered Santiago to identify and immediately arrest the perpetrators of the crime.
