MANILA, Philippines - The Commission on Human Rights (CHR) has summoned military and police officials as well as prosecutors of the Department of Justice (DOJ) to a public hearing on the case of the so-called “Morong 43” on March 18.
In its order, the CHR also wanted the custodians of the 43 health workers currently held at Camp Capinpin in Rizal to present the detainees before the constitutional body at the hearing.
CHR chairperson Leila de Lima said the issuance of the order dated Feb. 26, but only released to the media yesterday, came as a result of their team’s reports on its monitoring of the series of events since Feb. 7, and the complaint filed by the legal counsels of the 43 detainees on Feb. 25. – Katherine Adraneda
