Cotabato City executive killed in ambush

MANILA, Philippines - The chief of the assessor’s office of Cotabato City was killed in an ambush by two armed men yesterday afternoon.

Police said the victim, Enrique Barroga, died from multiple gunshot wounds. His driver, Joseph Delicano, was slightly wounded while Remegio Daga, assistant city assessor, was unharmed.

Investigation showed that Barroga’s group was cruising Sinsuat Avenue in Cotabato City on board a Toyota car when they were fired upon at the corner of Rosales street.

Police said the gunshots were directed at Barroga.

Police said the killing could be work-related but refused to elaborate.      – Cecille Suerte Felipe
