9 Indians denied entry in Mactan airport

MANILA, Philippines - Authorities from the Bureau of Immigration has intercepted nine Indian nationals who are carrying bogus visas upon presenting to immigration officers at the Mactan International Airport on Sunday.

The nine Indians who were denied entry were Gurpreet Singh, Amarjit Singh Sohi, Sandeep Singh Brar, Satwinder Singh, Kuldeep Kauldeep Singh, Gurmeet Kaur Kaler, Sita Delvi, Amardeep Kaur and Kuldeep Singh.

Airport Operation Division chief Ferdinand Sampol in his report to Immigration commissioner Marcelino Libanan said that the said Indian nationals were subjected to verification and inspection by the members of the immigration migration compliance and monitoring group that confirmed the Indians were carrying bogus visas allegedly issued by the bureau.

The BI-AOD issued an Exclusion Order to those nine Indians who were on board Cathay Pacific flight CX 921 for patent violations of the country’s immigration laws, and was repatriated via CX 920 bound for Hong Kong on the same day.

Sampol said that the installation of the MCMG in all major international airports is the bureau’s thrust in the fight against human smuggling using the Philippines as a jump off site for any unlawful activity by foreigners.

Libanan lauded the efforts being made by the MCMG Cebu for its significant campaign against these foreign-related crimes. Sampol assured the public the BI’s airport operations will be vigilant and continues to monitor the operations at all premier airport 24/7.     – Rudy Santos
