Batangas bets sign peace pact with Lipa archbishop

-

Lipa City, Batangas, Philippines – Local candidates signed a peace covenant with Lipa Archbishop Ramon Arguelles at the San Sebastian Cathedral here yesterday for an honest and peaceful conduct of the May 10 elections in the province.

In his homily, Arguelles lauded the local politicians in signing the covenant in spite of their busy schedules, different party affiliations and political principles.

Present at the covenant signing were Gov. Vilma Santos-Recto and Vice Gov. Mark Leviste, both seeking re-election under the Liberal Party; former governor Armand Sanchez and his vice gubernational bet Edwin Ermita of the Nacionalista Party, and Lakas-Kampi-CMD members.

Also included in the covenant were former senator and socio-economic planning secretary Ralph Recto, who is running for the Senate; Executive Secretary Eduardo Ermita for the first congressional district of Batangas, and other local candidates.
