- Manny Galvez -

GAPAN CITY, Nueva Ecija , Philippines  – A woman official of the Land Transportation Office (LTO) in southern Nueva Ecija was gunned down by motorcycle-riding men Thursday afternoon here, police said.

Senior Superintendent Ricardo Marquez, provincial police director, said Marilou Garcia, 51, chief of LTO-District 4 based here, died on the spot from three bullet wounds in the head, shoulder and upper left back from caliber super .38 pistols.

Superintendent Ricardo Villanueva, Gapan police chief, said Garcia was on her way home aboard a tricycle at around 5:14 p.m. Thursday when two men riding a red Suzuki motorcycle blocked her path along Tinio Extension and shot her point-blank.

Police were still investigating if the killing was work-related, as Garcia had no known enemies.
