Ecija mayor's cousin gunned down

QUEZON, Nueva Ecija, Philippines – A septuagenarian former municipal councilor, a known ally of the mayor of Licab town, was killed by heavily armed men here Thursday, police said.

The victim, Dr. Alejandro Domingo, 77, a retired dentist and cousin of re-electionist Licab Mayor Wilfredo Domingo, died from two bullet wounds in the head from a caliber .45 pistol.

Mayor Domingo believes that politics was behind the killing of the retired dentist, who was on his way to Licab with driver Segundo Domingo when three men aboard a motorcycle fired at them in Barangay Dulong Bayan here. Domingo was unhurt. – Manny Galvez
