Cops tracking down Ilocos hired killers

Laoag City, Ilocos Norte , Philippines  – Ilocos Norte policemen are tracking down alleged hired killers operating here.

This is the marching order of all policemen in the province, said police director Senior Superintendent Benjamin Lusad, at the start of the year after they bagged a suspected gun-for-hire last week.

Isaac Casay alias Bigsu from Nueva Era, a hinterland Ilocos Norte town adjacent to Abra province was collared last week and had undergone intensive interrogation on who is behind his alleged gun-for-hire activities.

Policemen suspect a politician is behind Bigsu, who is being tagged in several killings-for-a-fee in Nueva Era and Banna (Espiritu) towns, still being bogged by killings especially with the onset of the election season.              – Artemio Dumlao
