4 family members en route to reunion killed in mishap
BAYOMBONG, Nueva Vizcaya, Philippines – Four family members, including a four-year-old girl, were killed after the car they were riding in slammed into a concrete wall in Diadi town this province while they were rushing to a New Year’s Eve family reunion, a belated report said.
The fatalities were identified as Eduardo Datu, 37; his wife Zenaida, 34; their four-year-old daughter Sandra; and Zenaida’s brother, Jonathan Vergara, 35.
The couple’s other daughter, nine-year-old Angel Datu, sustained wounds and fractures in her skull and chest. She is reportedly still in critical condition.
The Datus had come from Metro Manila and were rushing to attend their traditional New Year’s Eve family get-together in Aurora, Isabela when they met the tragedy last Thursday.
The Datus’ Toyota Corolla crashed into the wall of a store along the national highway in Diadi town.
