Still no justice for daughter of broadcaster

DAGUPAN CITY, Philippines – Zharlene Yadao, daughter of Aksyon Radyo Pangasinan broadcaster Susan Yadao, would have turned 27 yesterday.

But instead of her family and friends celebrating, they, together with local newsmen, gathered for a prayer rally to call for justice for her killing last July 2.

Zharlene was walking home from the hospital where she worked as nurse when motorcycle-riding men snatched her bag and shot her.

“Maybe if she were alive today, she would have been working abroad,” her mother said.

She said she is puzzled up to now why the ballistic tests conducted by the regional police and Camp Crame three days apart on the slug and cartridge of the caliber .38 revolver allegedly used in the killing yielded different results – positive for the former, and negative for the latter.

She said she has approached the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group and the National Bureau of Investigation but up to now, no charges have been filed yet.
