MANILA, Philippines - Operatives of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) stumbled upon some 100 kilos of shabu in a grassy portion of the roadside in Dingalan, Aurora around midnight yesterday.

Anti-narcotics agents led by Director III Roberto Opeña found the illegal drugs in Barangay Matawe during an interdiction operation in the area.

PDEA Director General Dionisio Santiago presented the illegal drugs to the media yesterday morning and said that an investigation is being conducted to determine where the drugs came from.

Opeña, head of Task Group Bravo in Region 3, is spearheading the probe in the recovered shabu that was placed in a porcelain cauldron wrapped by a sack.

“We will dig deeper to find out the source and the intended destination of these illegal drugs,” Santiago said in a statement.

“We have reason to believe that some local personalities are involved and that they have been doing this for quite some time now,” he said.

PDEA said they have received reports that the shabu was dropped off by a pump boat at the shorelines of the Dingalan Bay.
