Palawan government doctor faces rape charges

- Michael Punongbayan -

MANILA, Philippines - The Office of the Ombudsman has approved the filing of rape charges against the chief doctor of the Cuyo District Hospital in Palawan for allegedly sexually abusing a 14-year-old girl in four occasions in 2006.

Acting Ombudsman Orlando Casimiro approved the filing of four counts of rape in relation to the Anti-Child Abuse Law against Dr. Ricardo Adalid after reviewing the victim’s complaint.

The Office of the Ombudsman upheld the findings of Palawan provincial prosecutor Alen Ross Rodriguez who found probable cause to indict Adalid.

In her complaint, the victim said Adalid allegedly raped her at gunpoint on Sept. 13, 2006 at a rest house owned by an engineer.

She alleged that the molestation again took place in the same place on Sept. 16, Oct. 10, and Dec. 25, all in 2006.
