3 persons found dead in Pansol hot springs
LAGUNA, Philippines – Three persons were found dead including one who was hacked to death inside Villa Fines Resort in Barangay Pansol, Calamba City, police said yesterday.
Senior Superintendent Manolito Labador, Laguna provincial director, identified the victims as Juan Portez, 36; Roger Bayon-on, 30; construction workers and residents of Purok 6, Barangay Pansol, and a certain Anselmo, the resort’s caretaker, a private pool owned by Cecilla Kalaw Fines.
Labador said the bodies of Portez and Bayon-on were found by their live-in partners floating along the lake at around 7 pm, Tuesday, in Barangay Pansol.
Bystanders told investigators that the victims were last seen fishing using electric rods along the lake. Probers said residents believed that Portez and Bayon-on were electrocuted. Further, the body of Anselmo was found sprawled in his own blood in the second floor of the resort by barangay officials, a few kilometers away from the lake where the two workers were found dead, on the same day.
Police took into custody a man identified as Reginaldo Nebres, 35, pool caretaker, native of Panginay, Bulacan, but later he was released for lack of sufficient evidence to link him in the killing of Anselmo. – Ed Amoroso
