LGU allocates P1 million for two Leyte barangays

-

KANANGA, Leyte , Philippines  – The municipality of Kananga is appropriating P500,000 for the purchase of lot for a barangay site in Barangay Tugbong, while it has already released the same amount for Barangay Lonoy, intended also for the same purpose, according to Mayor Elmer Codilla and Vice Mayor Macario Lumangtad Jr. in a recent interview.

Codilla said that the appropriation was made through the request of Chairman Marciano Nahine, of Barangay Tugbong who was Codilla’s lone opponent for mayor during the 2007 mayoralty race in this town. Nahine lost to Codilla with a huge margin and is now throwing his support to the mayor’s administration. Nahine likewise announced his constituents’ full support to the congressional plan of Eufrocino “Winnie” Codilla Jr., during a recent coronation activity in the barangay.

In Barangay Lonoy, the turnover of a check to Barangay Captain Rolando Grajo was also witnessed by Rep. Eufrocino Codilla Sr., Gov. Carlos Jericho Petilla, Sangguniang Panlalawigan members Antonio Jabilles and De-borah “Ebon” Bertulfo of the fourth district of Leyte.

In his message, Codilla said that the financial assistance from the LGU would help the two barangays.

Grajo of Barangay Lonoy said that they have purchased a one-hectare lot for their barangay site, since the present barangay hall and other facilities was owned by the barangay but erected in a privately-owned lot.      – Roberto Dejon
