1 killed, 3 hurt in Pangasinan grenade blast

BINMALEY, Pangasinan, Philippines  – One person died while three others were injured when a hand grenade exploded in a bakery in Barangay Malindong this town Sunday night.

Chief Inspector Jimmy Agtarap, police chief here, told The STAR that the casualty was identified as Celso Cruz, 25, furniture maker and resident of said barangay.

Injured were Mary Jane Garachero and her seven-year-old son Jason who were already discharged from the hospital while still being confined at a hospital is Marvin Siscar, 24, also of said place.

Police investigation showed that Cruz, then drank, brought with him at the Bestfriend Bakery the grenade which accidentally exploded while he fell asleep on a pile of empty soft drinks cases. The explosion caused injuries to those who were at the site.       – Eva Visperas
