Quezon trader shot dead

Candelaria, Quezon , Philippines  – A businessman was killed in an ambush perpetrated by two gunmen at Barangay Malabanban Norte, here Sunday night.

Police Superintendent Renato Alba identified the victim as Lamberto Asinas, 48, businessman, married, and resident of Barangay Bukal Sur while the suspects were two males riding in tandem.

Police investigators said that around 7:10 p.m. Sunday night, Asinas was driving an owner type jeep going north (DKJ-418) when the victim was shot at close range by one of the suspects. The victim was hit on the nape and was rushed to United Candelaria Doctor Hospital in Barangay Mangilag Sur of this municipality but he was declared dead on arrival.

The suspects allegedly fled toward San Juan, Batangas aboard their getaway motorcycle with no description and plate number.

Police recovered at the crime scene one .45 caliber and still conducting a hot pursuit operation. Motive of the killing is under investigation.                   – Michelle Zoleta
