Youth groups push Teodoro for president

BALANGA CITY, Philippines – Field coordinators and youth leaders of the defunct Kabataang Barangay (KB) in the province vowed to campaign for the candidacy of Defense Secretary Gilbert “Gibo” Teodoro in his bid to run in the presidential elections on May 2010 under the administration ticket.

Nicanor Ancheta, a former administrative officer of the Kabataang Barangay Agricultural Training Center located at the foot of historic Mount Samat in Pilar town, told The STAR that among the presidential hopefuls, only Teodoro is not tainted with any form of abuse or corruption related activities in the government.

Ancheta said that Teodoro then representing Tarlac province was a former KB regional president for Central Luzon which makes him a stalwart in the youth active participation in good governance and close friend of Judy Carunungan, herself KB president representing Bataan and assemblywoman-at-large of youth sector in the Batasang Pambansa during the Marcos regime.    – Raffy Viray
