Classes suspended in Pangasinan university due to bomb scare

-

DAGUPAN CITY, Philippines  – Classes were suspended yesterday at PHINMA, formerly University of Pangasinan along Arellano St. here due to a bomb scare that turned out to be a hoax.

Inspector Leo Llamas, police investigator of the Dagupan City Police Station told The STAR that they received a call around 6:45 a.m. from a male caller saying that two paper bags containing bombs were placed at the Nursing building at the second floor and at the Administration building.

They immediately called for assistance from the Explosives and Ordnance Division at the police provincial headquarters and together with local police, they searched the area.

The area was declared clear at 9:30 a.m., however, for security purposes, classes had been suspended yesterday.

Llamas said midterm exams were to be held yesteday and this could be a possible reason for the bomb scare.

They will request the management of Digitel to trace the number of the caller. – Eva Visperas
